Our community counselling service is made up of senior counsellors and counsellors with oversight from our Consultant Clinical Psychologist. All our counsellors specialise in helping people who may be experiencing low mood, stress, depression, anxiety, dealing with a difficult life event. Our team will carryout an initial assessment to listen and understand your individual situation. They will help empower you to learn skills and strategies to help you make positive changes in your life.
Couples Therapy for Depression helps both you and your partner understand each other better. It can help to support you with dealing with depression and the distress it can causes. There are a number of factors that can place pressure on relationships such as work, money, family tensions, children and poor health. Working with a couples counsellor can better open ways for you and your partner to communicate with each other more effectively.
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) looks at how relationships (e.g. with family, friends, partners etc) impact us and also how mental health problems can impact relationships. By better interacting with those around us we can improve any depression associated with these interactions. You and your therapist will identify and then focus on one of these four areas:
1. Conflict with others
2. Grief and bereavement
3. Difficulties beginning or maintaining relationships
4. Adjusting to changes in life.
