International Chronic Pain Virtual Summit 2020 on 18th and 19th June 2020
As well as focusing on research and clinical practice, real life examples of cases will be discussed, and methods employed to address persistent pain. A range of respected speakers from around the world will gather for an expected online audience of 5,000.
Prof. Cormac Ryan, Community Pain Champion and Professor of Clinical Rehabilitation, University of Teesside says
I was delighted to be invited to speak at the first International Chronic Pain Virtual Summit 2020. Addressing persistent pain on a public health level has huge potential impact. This conference provides a wonderful platform to tell the global clinical community about the exciting work we are doing with the Flippin’ Pain Campaign here in the UK. It’s so important to spread the word about how we are delivering pain science education en masse to help entire communities to understand pain better and tackling many of the misconceptions about pain that exist within the public consciousness.
Cormac is speaking at 4.30pm on 19 June. His presentation will explore pain as a public health issue and the evidence for the effectiveness of public health strategies to tackle pain on a population level. The potential role of improving health literacy and health outcomes by delivering pain science education as part of a public health initiative will be discussed.
The Flippin’ Pain campaign will be described which aims to flip people’s understanding of pain. He will also offer a view on the size of the opportunity and the outcomes of enabling people to reconceptualise (flip) pain.
